Pokemon News:

Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby Introduces New Mega Evolutions

Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby have been pleasant surprise announcements by Nintendo. Set for a November 2014 release date, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are coming out while Pokemon X and Y are still in their prime, but fans will not be complaining. Omega Ruby an Alpha Sapphire are remakes of the original Sapphire and Ruby versions from the Gameboy Advance days, now set for release on the Nintendo 3DS.

While it was expected that the game would at minimum serve as a remake, similar to how SoulSilver and HeartGold and FireRed and LeafGreen were graphical remakes of their respective originals, it was unknown if features introduced in X and Y would make their way into the games. It turns out they will.

Groudon and Kyogre are set to have their new mega evolutions revealed in the game, with them being called forms from their ancient past. Other Pokemon seeing new mega evolutions include Swampert and Sceptile, the evolved forms of the original starter Pokemon from that generation. Diancie, a yet unreleased, but confirmed, legendary Pokemon that is part rock and part fairy, is also said to be getting its own mega evolution.

Mega Evolutions are already stated to be activated differently in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire however. It seems an item called the Mega Bangle will be the triggering factor in these games.

In other related news, the mach bike and the acro bikes are making a return to the remakes, with Team Magma and Aqua also making returns in their respective versions. It appears that Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will utilize the same general plot as the original Hoenn region games, while introducing more mega evolutions and other aspects introduced from the Pokemon X and Y generation.
